RLD to contest Kairana bypoll, extend support to SP in Noorpur

The (RLD) today announced that it would contest the May 28 Kairana bypoll and hoped to get the "full support" of other like-minded, non-BJP parties.

In the 2014 election, BJP's Hukum Singh had bagged 5,65,909 votes as against his nearest rival, of the SP, who had secured 3,29,081 votes.

RLD held a nearly three-hour meeting with in on May 4 and an understanding was reached that both the parties would jointly contest the Kairana and bypolls, RLD said.

A broad understanding has also emerged that all the opposition parties should contest the 2019 Lok Sabha polls unitedly, he added.
