Hawaiian Airlines is waiving its reservation change fees for guests holding tickets for travel to and from Hilo (ITO) and Kona (KOA) through May 6 for to the Kīlauea Volcano eruption.
The guests will be permitted a one-time reservation change with waiver of change fee.
A popular tourist destination, Hawaii is made up of a number of islands, with the Big Island – on which the volcano is situated. This volcanic mountain attracts millions of tourists annually.
The eruption occurred after a series of earthquakes on the island over the last couple of days.
A magnitude 5.0 earthquake shook the Big Island, which caused a giant plume of pink smoke to rise from the mountain.
The travel advice issued by the Hawaiian Authorities says, the flights to and from Hawaii may be affected by this natural disaster.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has warned for the evacuation of the local residents.
One of America’s biggest airlines, United Airlines has yet to change or cancel flights as a result of the volcano.
