Bhopal: While the State government is hell-bent on appointment of faculty and principals at private colleges as per UGC norms, most of its own institutes are headless wonders. There are only 64 full-time principals in 468 degree colleges in the state. As for as law institutes are concerned, all the five government law colleges are running sans principals.
There are 37 law institutes, of which 32 are running in Universities as departments under HoD. In all 22 permanent law faculties have been teaching across the state. All these issues were discussed during a meeting between representatives of 37 law colleges and officials of higher education department at State Level Law College here on Friday. The college representative also said that BCI members were not inspecting the colleges to renew the affiliation.
Members also raised concern over the low enrolment in colleges saying that students who took admission in ten law institutes last year, shifted to other colleges next year. Law colleges’ representatives apprised the department officials of the lack of amenities and infrastructure in the institutes. Most of the law institutes have been facing issues like lack of principal, faculty, infrastructure required to get the affiliated to Bar Council of India.
Presiding over the meeting, additional director higher education Jagdish Chandra Jatiya, assured the representatives of the colleges of every possible measure to make the conditions in the colleges better.
