Criminal arrested while fleeing; police recover Sai Baba’s Crown too

The district police on Thursday arrested a hardcore criminal from Bahadurpur Road, while he was trying to escape after committing loot under Kasmar police station in Bokaro.

Police recovered two pistols (one 9 mm and another country made pistol), live bullets, bag, one mobile phone and a Hero Xtreme motorcycle (Regn. No- JH 01 TA 5848) from his possession, informed Kartik S Superintendent of Police Bokaro.

The arrested was identified as Anwar Ansari (35) a resident of Banaso village under Vishnunpur police station of Hazaribagh, he said.

According to the police, Vikash and Manjay Kumar, employees of Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited were on their way to the office, based at Jainamore last evening. Suddenly Anwar and Amjad stopped them and committed loot after taking them on gunpoint.

Unexpectedly Manjay and Vikash got the opportunity and they caught Anwar while Amjad got success in escaping from the spot, he said adding “hunt for Amjad is on, he will be arrested soon”.

“During interrogation, Anwar accepted his involvement in several loot incidents, though we are investigating more”, added SP.

In another breakthrough police recovered Silver crown of Sai Baba stolen from Sai Mandir on 1 December last year.

Precious gold and silver ornaments including three crowns (one Gold and two Silvers) and cash worth of rupees six lakhs were stolen from Sai Temple under Sector 6 police station in Bokaro. 

That night thieves entered the temple office and escaped with booty consisting silver and gold crown, ornaments including cash of donation, said City DSP Ajay Kumar.

During interrogation, Mithun Swarnkar informed us about the crown and police recovered one while one gold and silver crown were melted and sold, said DSP.  

“Mithun was at Bokaro Jail, he was arrested after finding his involvement in sale and purchase of stolen ornaments from SBI lockers,” he added.

The criminals who were in involved in SBI locker break incidents were also behind the Sai Temple theft incident.

All total twelve criminals involved in the SBI ‘locker break’ along with those who were involved in sale and purchases of the stolen jewellery were arrested; the incident occurred on 26 December 2016 night, said DSP.

“Hunt for the kingpin of the gang Hasan Chikna and two others are still on,” he added.

In the ‘locker break’ incident, thieves escaped with ornaments and valuables over 8 crore rupees after breaking the 76 lockers of the bank on Christmas holiday.

Out of 76 lockers, four were empty, informed the police.
