CPI faults study tour for proxies

CPI Karimnagar town secretary Padipelli Raju has termed organization of study tour to Nagpur by the Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar (MCK) for the proxies (husbands) of the women municipal corporators as “unconstitutional and unethical”.

Responding to a news item “Proxies participate in official study tour” published in these columns on Saturday, the CPI town secretary alleged that the MCK officials have made mockery of democracy by taking the proxies to the study tour at the cost of the exchequer. He flayed Karimnagar legislator G. Kamalakar, Mayor S. Ravinder Singh and Municipal Commissioner K. Shashanka for converting the study tour into a luxury trip at the cost of exchequer when the people of Karimnagar town were facing acute shortage of drinking water.

He ridiculed the Legislator for failing to fulfill the election promise of providing 24x7 water supply in Karimnagar town made in 2009 elections. He also demanded that the legislator, Mayor and Municipal Commissioner should clarify about what made them to organise study tour for the proxies instead of the elected women corporators.
