One day after the E.C. Glass 1,600 sprint medley relay team celebrated a first place finish at the Dogwood Track Classic at UVa’s Lannigan Field, two of its members celebrated first place finishes Saturday.

Hilltoppers junior Theo Woods captured first place in the 800 relay by running a 1:52.29. And Emmanuel Waller won the 300 hurdles with a 37.41, holding off runner-up Daiqwaun Faircloth of Nansemond River (37.77).

The only other first-place finishers at the Dogwood from the Lynchburg area on Saturday came from Liberty Christian, which took the 4x4 relay with a team of Eddie Muse, Jeremiah Bell, Bryson Hunter and Nate Kirk. They combined for a 3:24.13.

Also on the boys side, Amherst’s Kyle Mosteller was second in the pole vault (15-06), while Muse also secured fourth in the long jump.

The Glass girls, who took second in the 1,600 SMR on Friday, were also runners-up in the 4x1 relay on Saturday, finishing behind champ Forest Park with a 49.91.

Hilltoppers freshman Sarah Handel cruised to third in the 2,000 Steeplechase, while Jade Lane (triple jump) and Taliyah Wade (shot put) also finished third in their respective events.

Jefferson Forest’s Gracie Jauch hit 11-06 in the pole vault for second place, while Amherst’s Amani Hankton was fourth in the 100 hurdles with a 14.79.
