Panel probing sacrilege cases to visit Amritsar, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran

Justice Ranjit Singh (retired), Commission of Inquiry, constituted by Punjab Government to inquire into all incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib, Bhagwad Gita and Quran Sharif, in the state, will be visiting the districts of Amritsar, Kapurthala and Tarn Taran on May 15 to 17. 

So far, the Commission has visited the places of incidents of sacrilege in districts of SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Ropar, SBS Nagar, Hoshiarpur, Barnala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar Moga, Sangrur and Malerkotla.  The Commission is now scheduled to visit the places of incidents of sacrilege in these districts during three-day tour. 

“While enroute to Amritsar, the Commission shall first visit Hamira in Kapurthala district. Thereafter, the Commission shall visit Sathiala village under Beas Police Station, and then Nijjerpura under Police Station in Jandiala of Amritsar (Rural) district,” said the Commission spokesperson. 

The Commission shall pay visit to Tarn Taran district on May 16, and the programme for the sequence of visiting several places of incident will be finalized in consultation with Tarn Taran SSP. 

On May 16, the Commission will also pay a visit to Toti village in Kapurthala district Police Station Fattu Dhinga. The Commission thereafter would visit remaining sites of incident of Amritsar Commissionerate on May 17. 

Spokesperson said that any person desirous of making a statement before the Commission can appear before the Commission on the said dates at Amritsar, Kapurthala and Tarn Taran districts or on any working day at the office of Commission.
