Queen advertises for a new chef - but the salary is £2,000 BELOW expected
THE QUEEN is on the lookout for a new chef to staff the kitchens at Buckingham Palace, but the salary on offer may not be as high as you might expect.

The person hired as the new Demi Chef de Partie would be expected to take responsibility for dishes served up at state banquets and royal receptions.
The job advert calls for an ”ambitious and qualified" applicant and the remuneration package includes staff meals, live-in accommodation, 33 days holiday and a generous pension scheme.
The successful applicant is promised on-the-job training, with plenty of “opportunities for you to grow your career”.
And unlike most catering roles, whoever lands this job can also expect to travel to the Royal Family’s other residences, such as Balmoral Castle.
But the salary of £21,151.88 is around £2,000 less than a chef with similar experience could expect to earn elsewhere in London, the Mirror reports.
And because the offer of staff accommodation is mandatory, the candidate would see the cost of lodging deducted from their pay.
The job advert reads: "This is no ordinary Demi Chef de Partie role.
"In our state-of-the-art kitchens, you'll prepare classical and contemporary menus for a wide range of events, learning essential skills that will provide stepping stones for a great career.

"Working with quality ingredients and highly skilled colleagues, you'll develop specific technical skills, rotating through all sections of the kitchen.
"Every day will be different. You'll prepare receptions and state dinners, as well as staff lunches.
"In an environment where development and training is commonplace, you'll be supported to grow within your role.

"And whether you're based at Buckingham Palace or, when required, travelling to another Royal residence, you'll look forward to whatever challenge comes your way."
A range of other positions are available for the Royal Family, including a gardener at Buckingham Palace, an archive cataloguer at Windsor Castle and a cleaner at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
