Septuagenarian held for abusing minor girl

In a bizarre incident, a 75-year-old man has been arrested on the charge of sexually abusing a minor girl of his neighbourhood by luring her with candies and money at Sana Maitapur village under the Simulia police limits in Baleswar district.

Surendra Behera was arrested after the girl’s parents lodged a complaint with the Simulia police in this regard.

“We have apprehended the accused and registered a case in this connection. He will be forwarded to court after medical examination,” said Simulia police station IIC Sanjay Parida.

As per the complaint, the elderly man committed the crime after inviting the girl to his house where he stays alone. Investigation into the matter is underway.
