Spare innocent kids

Sir — The recent attack by stone-pelters in Jammu & Kashmir’s Shopian district where a school bus was targeted, is one of the most cowardly act one could think of. Separatist leaders like Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq should take a conscientious call and condemn these barbaric acts unequivocally.

The incident also calls for a collective concern and strategy on the part of civil society

members and also the politicians across party lines to put aside their differences to bring an end to the heinous crime of stone-pelting. Simultaneously, authorities must take steps to ensure that no more schools buses are targeted and a thorough probe should be launched to punish those responsible for this inhuman crime.
