Man found dead inside car

Police suspect he died of cardiac arrest or ill health

A 55-year-old Delhi Jal Board employee was found dead inside his car in south-wast Delhi’s South Campus late on Thursday, the police said on Friday. They suspect that he died due to a cardiac arrest or ill health.

Lying unconscious

Rajesh Kumar, who was a zonal revenue officer with the DJB, used to work for a taxi service.

The police control room received a call regarding a man lying unconscious inside a car in Kaka Nagar at 7.15 p.m. A police team took Rajesh to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

“Locals said the driver parked the vehicle in front of a shop. A few hours later, the shop owner spotted the driver lying unconscious inside the car. He informed police immediately,” said a police officer.

Initial enquiry revealed that Rajesh had not gone home since Tuesday. His family told the police that he was addicted to alcohol and had gone missing from home on several occasions. No foul play is suspected, said the police.

“The car was surveyed by a crime team. The body was handed over to his family after post-mortem. Inquest proceedings have been initiated,” said a senior police officer.

Post-mortem report

“The deceased did not have any visible injury marks on the body. We have recovered an empty liquor bottle, a soft drink bottle and a packet of snacks from the car. The exact cause of death will be clear after the post-mortem report,” added the officer.
