SYCAMORE – Donors gave about $200,000 more in this year’s Give DeKalb County event Thursday than they did last year.

More than 2,200 donors raised more than $613,000 for 91 nonprofit organizations, according to the event’s website.

That includes both online and walk-in donations, which people could make Thursday at the DeKalb County Community Foundation, at 475 DeKalb Ave. in Sycamore.

Hope Haven of DeKalb County received the most money from this year’s event at more than $41,000, according to the website.

Safe Passage brought in the most donors this time, with 216 people giving more than $26,000.

Ben Bingle, director of the DeKalb County nonprofit partnership for the DeKalb County Community Foundation, said more than $465,000 was donated to more than 80 organizations during last year’s Give DeKalb County event.

He said this year’s event outpaced last year’s in every aspect by Thursday afternoon.
