CR seizes ₹1.47 cr. worth of tickets from tout

Mumbai: The Central Railway (CR) on Friday said they have seized tickets worth over ₹1.47 crore from a tout. Railway officials found that touts were using a malicious software, which allowed them to bypass queues and confirm reservations.

A joint action team was set up with officials from the vigilance department, RPF, IRCTC, and the commercial department of the Mumbai Division. On May 2, a man was nabbed, who railway officials believe to be the kingpin of the racket. Eighty tickets worth ₹1.04 lakh were recovered and a case against him was registered under Section 143 of the Railways Act.

A search on his computer revealed 6,603 PNRs amounting to ₹1.47 crore. A senior RPF officer said the tout went by the name of Salman Khan and is from Oshiwara.

“The names of passengers whose tickets have been booked will not appear in the chart after the preparation,” chief public relations officer Sunil Udasi said.
