Property under threat as out-of-control blaze burns north of Perth

Fire crews are battling an out-of-control blaze that could threaten lives and properties near a town north of Perth.

A watch and act alert has been issued on Saturday afternoon for parts of Muchea, in the Shire of Chittering, with authorities warning residents to leave or prepare to actively defend their homes.

The alert level for this fire was upgraded as property is under threat. People living in the area need to leave or get ready to actively defend.

The fire started near the intersection of Brand Highway and Nolan Road.

"There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is approaching in the area and conditions are changing," a message from EmergencyWA said.
