Long-weekend beachgoers stuck in 30km delays on M1, Bruce Highway
Beachgoers hoping to escape for the long weekend have been caught in 30 kilometres of combined delays on the M1 and Bruce Highway on Saturday.
Australian Traffic Network reporter Ben Mihan said the congestion started about 10am and was "getting worse every hour".
Mr Mihan said heavy traffic was banked up about 13 kilometres between MacGregor and Tanah Merah on the M1 at midday.
He also said 17 kilometres of congestion had also formed on the Bruce Highway between Dakabin and Caboolture.
Mr Mihan said if the delays continued to worsen, there could be a repeat of Friday's gridlock, when traffic banked up bumper to bumper for more than 50 kilometres.
