Komara said he started working with his dad when he was only eight years old.
STRUTHERS, Ohio (WKBN) - Komara Jewelers was started 70 years ago in Struthers -- and throughout its entire history -- has been owned by someone in the Komara family. Now the third generation is taking over -- because Bob Komara is retiring.
Bob Komara wants the legacy of his family jewelry store to stay with the family and said his children are ready for the task.
"They're doing a remarkable job of running the business and I think it's time they control the everyday activities and get ownership in the business. They worked hard, they deserve it."
Bob said he started working with his dad when he was only eight years old.
"I never worked for anybody a day in my life. I love the business, I love the people. It's been a very fulfilling worthwhile job, career, whatever you want to call it. "
His retirement will begin the first of the year and even then he'll still take part in the business.
"I'm going to go to Florida, and when I'm home, I'm going to work as a consultant. I'm going to work by appointment. I have too many old friends and customers that want to see me."
