ISIS flag found tied to a tree in Nalbari district

Press Trust of India  |  Nalbari

A mysterious alleged flag with a written message 'Join ISIS' was found tied to a tree in lower Assam's district, police sources said today.

The flag was noticed by local people at Koihati on a tree in an agricultural field yesterday and they immediately informed nearby about it, the sources said.

Police removed the flag and launched an investigation into who may be responsible for it.

Stating none has been arrested so far, the sources said the flag was black in colour with 'Join ISIS' written in white along with some words in Arabic.

Earlier, on May two similar six IS NE flags were recovered in district on a near town

Police there probing into the issue stated that the flags may have been put up by miscreants to create tension among the people of the area.

Locals suspected 'IS NE' may be a short form for 'Islamic State North East' and international terror outfits could be active in recruiting people here into the and expand their bases in and the North East region.
