Paradip youth body holds mega labour meet

The Paradip Industrial Youth Development Council (PIYDC) celebrated the International Labour Day with various activities led by noted youth leader Rakesh Patnaik.

A mega labour meet and a felicitation ceremony were held at its office premises. Eminent trade union leader Sauribandhu Kar was chief speaker and poet Husain Rabi Gandhi chief guest. Other guests were social activist Dr Rina Routray, journalist Dillip Satapathy, National Human Rights Commission Member Manoj Jena, transgender leader Mira Parida, actress Sushree Jina Samal, Mahanadi movement convenor Sudarshan Dash, Odisha Gandhism Forum president Gyanaranjan Smantray, human rights activist Biswajit Suryavansi and environmentalist Ayash Kant Ray.

PIYDC advisor Tamil Pradhan was also present at the meeting, which was coordinated by Sudhansu Sekhar Sutar. The women Self-Help Groups organised by Rakesh Patnaik presented their products. The guests praised Patnaik for his social, cultural and rural women empowerment programmes.

Rina Routray demanded that the State Government undertake women labour development projects as done for construction labourers.
