Ujjain: MP Chintamani Malviya distributed 63 motorized tricycles to 63 differently abled persons on Thursday at his residence, under the ‘local area development scheme’ and ‘Assistance to disabled persons for purchase scheme’ initiated by the Central government.
Additional collector Basant Kurre, Iqbalsingh Gandhi, Satyanarayan Khoiwal, Vikramsingh Gondiya, Amit Shrivastava, Suresh Giri and other invitees were present. The guests garlanded the portrait of Goddess Saraswati and started the programme. Expressing their views guests said traditional tricycles exhausted the user, while motorized tricycles would provide ease to the users. Of late 100 differently abled persons received tricycles from the MP.
Malviya said a fully charged tricycle could travel 60 KM and available space could be used for petty business, he added. “We will try to provide more facilities to disabled persons from MP’s fund and funds for maintenance of tricycles will also be arranged,” Malviya said. Use of radium strips on the tricycles was suggested to ward off accidents at night by the MP.
