TTD launches ‘time slot’ token system

End to long hours in queue lines

The “time slot” token system for ‘dharma darshan’ of Lord Venkateswara was finally introduced on Thursday.

Devotees now need not spend long hours in the queue lines. Instead, they can report at the Vaikuntham complex for darshan at the time mentioned on the tokens. TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal told the media that the week-long soft launch enabled the management to identify and plug the loopholes in the system. It would be implemented on a full-fledged basis from Friday. The management decided to take up a publicity campaign on the system.

In all, 109 token-issuing counters were opened at both Tirumala and Tirupati. Mr. Singhal urged the pilgrims to make use of the facility..

Tirumala-based TTD JEO K.S. Srinivasa Raju said Aadhaar was not mandatory. Voter ID cards were enough. For those reaching the town on foot, seven counters were opened along the Srivari Mettu and 12 on Alipiri route.
