LEXINGTON — Fourth-seeded Lynchburg knocked off top-seeded and 12th-ranked Washington and Lee 11-8 in an ODAC men’s lacrosse semifinal Friday, snapping the Generals’ 14-game winning streak.
The Generals (14-4), who had gone 9-0 in ODAC play in the regular season, lost for the first time since Feb. 18.
Lynchburg (11-8) will play No. 17 Roanoke for the title at 7 p.m. Saturday in Lexington.
The Generals led 8-7 with 10:42 remaining, but the Hornets scored the final four goals of the game.
Evan Lombardo tied the score with 8:32 left. Trammel Robinson scored with 6:33 left to give the Hornets a 9-8 lead. Robinson scored again with 1:09 to go. Colin McGuire added a goal with 15 seconds remaining.
Robinson and McGuire each scored three goals for Lynchburg. A.J. Witherell scored twice for W&L.
Roanoke 14, Hampden-Sydney 8
LEXINGTON — The No. 3 seed and 17th-ranked Maroons (14-4) knocked off the No. 2-seeded Tigers in an ODAC tournament semifinal matchup.
Roanoke, which held a 9-2 halftime lead, was led by Owen Curry with four goals and Hayden Miller and IV Stucker with three goals each. Jason Sarro added two goals and two assists and the Maroons outshot Hampden-Sydney 49-29.

SVU’s Lamb honored
Southern Virginia sophomore Shawn Lamb (Rockbridge County), who had 46 goals and 41 assists this year, has been named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference first team.
BASEBALL
Roanoke 10, Lynchburg 1
The No. 3 seed Maroons (28-9) scored four runs in the fourth and five in the fifth to pick up a win in the opening round of the ODAC tournament in a best-of-three series with the No. 6 seed Hornets (15-23).
The fourth inning was highlighted by a Cody Shell two-run single scoring Sean Guida and Gavin Kandrick. In the fifth, it was Shell again with the big hit, this time a three-run double.
Fletcher Mazzola picked up the win throwing five innings, allowing one run off of three hits with two strikeouts and a walk.
The second game was not over at press time.
If a third game is need, it will be played at 4 p.m. Saturday at Haley Toyota Field.
SVU goes 0-2 at CAC tournament
NEWPORT NEWS — Southern Virginia (18-18) bowed out of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament after going 0-2 on the first day of action.
Fifth-seeded SVU was in a three-team, double-elimination pod with third-seeded Penn State-Harrisburg and second-seeded and fifth-ranked Christopher Newport.
Penn State-Harrisburg (29-10) beat SVU 12-11 on Friday morning. CNU (32-8) belted four homers and squashed SVU 17-5 on Friday afternoon.
In the morning game, the Knights erupted for six runs in the top of the eighth to tie the score at 11. The outburst featured a two-RBI single by Jonathan Soto, a two-RBI double by Bridger Taylor and an RBI double by Canon Anderson. Brady Lamb was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to tie the game. But the Lions grabbed a 12-11 lead in the bottom of the eighth on Tyler Aug’s sac-fly.
Georgia Tech 6, Radford 5
ATLANTA -- The Yellow Jackets (25-21) scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning for a come-from-behind nonconference win over the Highlanders (20-24).
Radford got solo homers from Luke Wise and Straton Poderas.

Charleston Southern 4, Radford 1
CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Buccaneers (26-28, 7-12 Big South) jumped in front early with three runs in the bottom of the first and Nicole Ayala threw a four-hitter at the Highlanders (31-17, 11-8).
Radford’s run when Hannah Medlam was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, forcing home Lauren Maddrey.

SVU’s Blasko wins CAC crown
SALISBURY, Md. — Southern Virginia’s Derek Blasko won the men’s javelin title on the first day of the CAC outdoor championships.
He became SVU’s first CAC champ in any men’s sport.
Blasko was in second place entering his final throw, with Joseph Rebarchak of Penn State-Harrisburg leading the pack at 178 feet, 1 inch. But Blasko won the title with his final throw of 185-10.
