Market Now: ITC, Godrej Industries keep Nifty FMCG index in the negative zone
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 were in the red.
NEW DELHI: Losses in ITC (down 2.89 per cent), Emami (down 2.89 per cent) and Godrej Industries (down 2.61 per cent) were keeping the Nifty FMCG index down in Friday's trade.

The Nifty FMCG index was trading 1.16 per cent down at 28,157 around 02:25 pm (IST).

Shares of GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (down 1.32 per cent), Godrej Consumer Products (down 1.14 per cent), United Breweries (down 0.73 per cent), Colgate-Palmolive (India) (down 0.48 per cent), United Spirits (down 0.29 per cent) and Tata Global Beverages (down 0.19 per cent) were also in the red.

However, shares of Marico (up 3.08 per cent), Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Healthcare (up 1.34 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (up 0.85 per cent), Britannia Industries (up 0.64 per cent), Jubilant Foodworks (up 0.56 per cent) and Dabur India (up 0.46 per cent) were trading with gains around that time.

Equity markets continued trading in the lower territory amid weak global cues.

Investors were on the sidelines as uninspiring quarterly earnings did nothing to lift market sentiment.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 56 points at 10,623, while the BSE Sensex was 194 points down at 34,909.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 17 were trading in the green, while 33 were in the red.
