Arsenal news: Martin Keown reveals real reason Gunners lost to Atletico Madrid
ARSENAL legend Martin Keown has bemoaned mistakes from the Gunners in both legs of their Europa League semi-final against Atletico Madrid.
Arsenal have fallen at the last hurdle of the competition, going out 2-1 on aggregate to Atletico.
The La Liga side capitalised on an error from Laurent Koscielny in the first leg last week and tonight from right-back Hector Bellerin.
Arsenal battled hard but were unable to break down a stubborn Atletico Madrid team, who have still not conceded a goal at home since January.
Keown says he was gutted for manager Arsene Wenger, with tonight’s game turning out to be his last in European competition in charge.

There was character there but the mistakes, which have haunted them all season, were in both games
“Well, obviously (I’m) massively disappointed,” Keown said on BT Sport.
“I’m gutted for Arsene Wenger.
“There was character there but the mistakes, which have haunted them all season, were in both games. Mistakes at the back, switched off.
“We talked about the education of the players, building blocks, and it wasn’t there.

“Bellerin tonight, he will be disappointed with what happened, it could have been averted.”
Wenger will leave Arsenal at the end of the season after almost 22 years at the club and without a European trophy.
His final game in charge will be the visit to Huddersfield on May 13.
