The Hinckley-Big Rock girls soccer team picked up its first win of the year, beating South Beloit, 4-0, on Thursday.

The Royals (1-7-4) only had 11 players, and battle through a steady downpour all game.

Tori Prellberg had a pair of goals, as did Avery DeBernardi.

Hinckley-Big Rock concludes the regular season at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

G-K places seventh at conference meet: Genoa-Kingston Girls placed seventh at the Big Northern Conference girls track and field meet with 29 points.

Chloe Gallagher finished first in the pole vault, clearing 10-feet. Allison Kramer was third in the 300 meter low hurdles with a final time of 49.48. She was also fourth in the 100 hurdles at 17.18. Eith Mercato followed behind her in the 100 hurdles, finishing fifth at 17.60. Alex Jerbi took fifth in the two-mile at 13:09.

SOFTBALL

DeKalb falls at Ottawa: DeKalb lost to Ottawa, 12-1, in two innings.

The Barbs host LaSalle-Peru at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

GIRLS SOCCER

Kaneland ties with Yorkville: Kaneland and host-Yorkville battled to a 2-2 tie.

Senior Abby Taylor scored both of the Knights' goals within a six-minute span to tie the match. She netted her first in the 69th minute and the second in the 75th minute.

Kaneland (11-2-2) hosts Morris at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

LATE WEDNESDAY

G-K soccer outlasts Harvard: Genoa-Kingston defeated Harvard, 1-0, Wednesday evening during the Cogs' final game of the regular season, thanks to a game-winning goal by Rachel Younker.

Younker scored in the 75th minute, when she was gifted with a direct kick off a hand ball just outside the penalty box. Her shot went over Harvard's wall of defenders and into the top right corner of Harvard's net.

Kayla Mata-Long earned the shutout win in goal for the Cogs (8-8-1).
