Back home at City Stadium for the first of a three-game series, it looked like it could be another long night for the Lynchburg Hillcats as they took on the Myrtle Beach Pelicans on Friday.

A couple of walks ended in runs for the Pelicans, who took an early lead over the Hillcats through six innings.

In the bottom of the sixth, though, the Hillcats got it all back — and more — and the ’Cats snapped a six-game skid with a 7-3 win.

Dillon Persinger was hit by a pitch to lead off the frame, and Mitch Longo reached on a single before Conner Capel singled to right to send them home and get the scoring started.

Jodd Carter and Jose Medina added singles for three more runs, and Logan Ice’s sacrifice fly to left capped the Hillcats’ scoring in the frame.

An inning later, Longo, who drew a leadoff walk, scored on Emmanuel Tapia’s groundout.

Longo led the way for Lynchburg thanks to his 3-for-3 night. He stretched his hit streak to 17 games and is hitting a team-leading .322.

The Hillcats (13-14) tallied nine hits, with six of nine players in the lineup notching at least one hit.

Myrtle Beach (11-17) also had nine hits, but the Pelicans stranded nine base runners.

Wladimir Galindo went 2 for 4 with a double and RBI to lead Myrtle Beach.

Kieran Lovegrove (2-0) earned the win, pitching 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief and allowing just one hit.

Pelicans starter Alex Lange (1-1) took the loss, allowing four runs (all earned) on six hits. He struck out five and walked two.
