Mumbai: After almost two months of hospitalisation, a 27-year-old Parvinder Gupta succumbed to his prolonged illness on Thursday evening at the Jogeshwari Trauma Centre. A senior doctor said his body would be sent to the Siddharth hospital for post-mortem and following which body will be handed over to the family for the last rites.

The doctors said since he has been admitted to the hospital his health condition was not at all good and it was deteriorating. “He was already very serious when he was brought to the hospital. We tried our best to save him but on Thursday he breathed his last. The body is sent for post-mortem,” said Dr H Bhava, medical superintendent of the hospital.

Recently, a rat had nibbled Parvinder’s eyes due to which he had been shifted to the ICU of the hospital. But the hospital authorities refuted all the claims made by the family.  Ram Gupta, father of Parvinder, said he started having health issues from March 6 when he was on his way to the office. When he visited a local clinic, he was referred to a super-speciality hospital where an MRI scan report confirmed that he has developed a blockage in his veins that was affecting the blood circulation to the brain. After surgery he slipped into coma and since then, he never gained his consciousness. “There was no medical negligence by the hospital as his condition was deteriorating day-by-day,” said Ram Gupta.
