The events include a speech by Lt. Gov. It’s a part of a statewide tour in which he will highlight Louisiana’s new tourism branding campaign, “Feed Your Soul”.

“National Travel and Tourism Week allows the Louisiana Office of Tourism and all of the local Convention and Visitors Bureaus to promote all of Louisiana,” Nungesser said in a news release. “The economic impact of tourism dollars is more important than ever and by promoting and marketing all regions of the state to tourists, we can the recognize all of our attractions, events and most importantly people.”

Tourists, both domestic and international, spend about $18 billion a year in Louisiana, he said.

At the luncheon, the local tourism agency will also present awards to local officials, residents and businesses that have done outstanding work to promote Terrebonne as a tourist destination.

On Wednesday, the Terrebonne agency will lead a free seminar and webinar for partners in the tourism and hospitality industry.

On May12, residents are invited to the Spring Community Showcase at the Terrebonne Visitor Center grounds, 114 Tourist Drive in Gray. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., more than 50 local arts, crafts, food and beverage and children’s vendors will showcase their offerings. Sheauxdown, a local rock, pop and country cover band, will provide live music. And a dessert cook-off will include free samples for the first 200 guests. A children’s area will also have free activities.

In Lafourche, parish tourism officials will celebrate the start of a new Cajun Bayou Food Trail during a program scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fremin’s Restaurant, 402 W. Third St., Thibodaux.

The new Cajun Bayou Food Trail leads visitors to 15 restaurants that serve authentic Cajun food, starting in Thibodaux and following Bayou Lafourche south to Port Fourchon, said Kellie Walters, marketing manager for Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou-Lafourche, the local tourism agency.
