Skill drive for youths in 164 blocks tomorrow

Under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Union Ministry of Rural Development, as part of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, various programmes on skill development, livelihood and entrepreneurship for youths will be launched at 164 blocks in 30 districts of Odisha on May 5.

National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) State Engagement Head Jaykant Singh in a Press meet held here on Thursday told this.

Singh a State level programme will be organised at Habeli ground in Khordha district in front of BDO colony. Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan will be the chief guest on the occasion. Similarly Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram is slated to join various programmes at different blocks under Sundargarh district.

The objective of organising the programme is to fulfill the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making a ‘New India’ and to concretise the mission of a ‘New Odisha’. This will create awareness among the youths about various Government skill development and livelihood initiatives and provide a platform to get exposure on various skill development courses and job opportunities in the industries.

Efforts will be given to connect youths with various traditional and modern market relevant job skills to cater effective employment opportunity through the courses on skill development programme. Steps would be taken to modernise the ITIs along with introducing modern syllabus. Skill certificates would be distributed to the traditional skilled persons who have no certificates till now, Singh informed.
