In the first week itself, Avengers: Infinity War of the Marvel Cinematic Universe entered the Rs 150 crore club by collecting Rs 156.64 crore in seven days after its release. While the film did not face any competition from Bollywood in its initial week, it looks like Hollywood’s latest offering has little competition in the second week too.

Only two small-ticket Hindi films have hit the theatres this Friday — Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor-starrer 102 Not Out and Rajkummar Rao’s Omerta.

While 102 Not Out saw a slow start with box office opening of around 10-15 per cent, Omerta’s Friday opening stands at 0-5 per cent, according to Bollywood news portal Box Office India.

Film trade analyst Joginder Tuteja expects 102 Not Out to add Rs 3-4 crore in its kitty on the first day and Omerta to rake in at least Rs 1 crore as the film is for the niche urban multiplex audience and hence would primarily be dependent on critical acclaim.

On the other hand, April 27 release Avengers: Infinity War on its second Friday opened on a better note than the two new Hindi releases. And with its 19th film, MCU has continued its dominance at the Indian box office and it looks like the film is bracing to enter the Rs 200 crore club.

Avengers: Infinity War is not only breaking records on its home turf but also in India with the film being the quickest entry in the Rs 150 crore club irrespective of language. With Hollywood films also being taken into consideration, it still takes the top spot — by a distance.

In addition, the superhero franchise has also become the first Hollywood film to collect Rs 20-crore plus on all initial five days of its release.

Current business of Avengers: Infinity War within the Indian market are setting new benchmark records and the film is continuing to draw audiences. But will it be able to touch the collection target of Rs 200 crore by the end of second week? All depends on the footfalls for week two.
