AAP slams Tiwari over landfill sites

‘Making a mockery of issue to score political brownie points’

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday accused Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Manoj Tiwari of gifting a heap of garbage to his constituents as an outgoing present.

It also alleged that the BJP had lied in order to get a nod for the creation of landfill sites on the Yamuna riverbed.

AAP national spokesperson Dilip Pandey, at a press conference, alleged that the consultancy process in relation to the allotment of land for the creation of landfill sites in Karawla Nagar and Ghonda Gujran had seen the bypassing of several Delhi government departments.

“The consultancy process was dismissed as a joke by the BJP-administered Delhi Development Authority [DDA] which bypassed the Delhi Pollution Control Committee [DPCC] and the Environment Department in relation to the allotment of land,” Mr. Pandey alleged.

“Mr. Tiwari and his friends are making a mockery of the whole issue to score political brownie points. They should instead join us in demanding that the Lieutenant Governor, the East Delhi Municipal Corporation [EDMC] and other government departments which lied to procure permission for the allotment of land for the purpose not only apologise to the citizens of Delhi but also resign from their posts,” he said further.

Basis of lies

The AAP has alleged that clearance for the same had been procured on the basis of “lies” by several government departments under the BJP-led Centre.
