The accused has been identified as Aakash, they said. The woman was allegedly gang-raped by an autorickshaw driver and his four friends.

Offer to help

The victim told the police that she was waiting for a bus to Aligarh at Sohna bus stand on Sunday night when the autorickshaw driver approached her.

He told her that she was waiting at the wrong place since the bus to Aligarh left from Gurugram and not Sohna.

He offered to drop her till the Gurugram bus stand but drove her to a secluded place on the road leading to Raisina.

Friends waiting

His four friends were already waiting at the spot and all the accused took turns to rape the woman.

β€œThe matter came to light when she reached home and told her family about the incident. They lodged a complaint at Bhondsi police station. One of the accused, Aakash, was arrested on Thursday. He was produced in court and sent to judicial custody,” said Gurugram police spokesperson Ravinder Kumar.

The woman is a labourer and belongs to Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. She stays with her family in Sohna.
