Tim Price is the leading New Zealander in sixth place after the first day of dressage at the Badminton Horse Trials in England.
Price, riding Ringwood Sky Boy, rode well on Thursday (Friday NZ time) to be just 1.9 penalty points behind leader Rosalind Canter of Great Britain.
Four-time winner Sir Mark Todd is in 11th place and defending champion Andrew Nicholson is 18th, 6.4 penalties behind Canter.
Caroline Powell is 21st, Dan Jocelyn 28th, Andy Daines 33rd and Virginia Thompson 38th.
There is another day of dressage before the cross country and showjumping.
