Ujjain: State Election Commission commissioner R Parashuram held a divisional review meeting annual revision for the year 2018, of the electoral photo identity card list of urban and rural bodies at the Brahaspati Bhawan on Thursday.
He called on deputy district returning officers and electoral observers (supervisors) to take note of small things, which also should be considered important in preparing for the elections, he pointed out. He also stated that tasks handed out by the Commission should be completed within the time limit and there should be no room for error in the voter lists which should be prepared on the basis of delimitation.
The commissioner instructed that the verification of error of the control table should be resolved in a time bound manner. Shifting, deletion, verification and amended verification lists should be on the ERMS through vendors after marking has been done by the BLOs by May 15. Determination of claims and objections centers and appointment of supervisors should be done with sincerity.
Parashuram said the Commission would send observers to the districts for the supervision of the voter list revision programme. These observers will visit districts from May 23 to May 28. They will review the works of determination of the claims and objections centers, appointment of BLOs, appointment of supervision officers, second training etc. In addition, the observers will also take note of action taken by the registration authorities on rationalisation of the polling stations, control table verification, shifting lists, deletion of verification lists, amended verification list, he added.
In the meeting State Election Commission deputy secretary Deepak Saxena and under secretary Rajesh Yadav also made power point presentations on relevant matters. They informed that the deputy district returning officers and the election supervisors should appoint EVM store room in-charge officers and make online entry after physical verification. EVMs should be repaired by May 31, he said.
The meeting also discussed the working and non-working control units and ballot units. It was instructed that the pre-FLC should be completed by May 10. In the meeting, it was instructed that the new format for claim-objection and the instructions of the BLO booklet should be seriously studied. Based on the final published electoral roll of the assembly, draft format electoral rolls of gram panchayat should be prepared in the second phase by May 24. In the third phase, receiving of claims, objections and final voter list should be published till July 2. It was informed in the meeting that claims and objections can be obtained from May 30 to June 8.
Divisional commissioner MB Ojha instructed all deputy returning officers to ensure strict adherence to the instructions given by the Election Commissioner. Collector Manish Singh, municipal commissioner Vijay Kumar J and district panchayat CEO Sandeep GR were also present in the meeting.
