Google Chrome blocks nearly 50 percent of unwanted autoplays

recently released its 66. One of the biggest features of the new update was the blocking of autoplaying content. The company has now revealed that blocks about half of unwanted autoplays.

The new version of the browser mutes content with sound, until you hit play. A number of autoplays are either paused, muted, or have their tab closed within six seconds by users, Venture Beats reported.

Chrome determines which autoplaying content to stop based on your preferences and ranking of each website as per your previous behaviour. A variety of factors, such as consumption of media over 7 seconds, presence of audio, and size of the video, are also considered before content on a website is muted or paused.
