Trump administration, Chinese officials had 'frank' discussions on trade: White House

Trump administration officials had "frank discussions" with their Chinese counterparts on U.S.-China economic ties during meetings in Beijing, the White House said Friday. The statement did not describe any specific commitments from the Chinese, but said U.S. officials including Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin "affirmed that fair trade will lead to faster growth for the Chinese, United States and world economies." Mnuchin, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and other Trump officials are now returning to Washington to brief the president "and seek his decisions on next steps," the statement said.
