Queensland man charged with 97 child sex crimes as police raid home

A Queensland man has been charged with 97 child sex offences after devices alleged to contain child exploitation material were found at his Western Downs home.

More than 70 of the charges related to grooming a child younger than 16.

Police executed a search warrant at a 31-year-old man’s Wandoan home on March 8, where they seized several devices containing child-exploitation material.

Forensic analysis has been done on the devices and several alleged online offences were identified.

The two-month investigation also uncovered information relating to several alleged online sex offenders in the US.

The 97 charges include more than 70 counts of grooming a child under 16 with intent to expose or indecent matter, 15 counts of using a carriage service to solicit child pornography material, five counts of possessing child exploitation material and one count of using the internet to procure children under 16 years.

The man was due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on June 20.
