Flipkart Co-founder and Executive Chairman Sachin Bansal could leave the company after the online retailer is acquired by Walmart, said an Economic Times report.

"The talks around Sachin moving out of Flipkart with the Walmart deal have started in the last 3-4 days," the paper quoted a source as saying.

The decision is likely to be made next week, and Bansal's exit is a "strong possibility", the report said. However, Walmart will be keen on retaining Bansal and Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy.

Bansal could launch another startup or mentor young entrepreneurs after leaving the Bengaluru-headquartered company.

"I won't be able to comment on anything related to this," said Sachin Bansal.

Moneycontrol could not independently verify the report.

Further, Binny Bansal is likely to sell a 10th of his shares, but it is yet to be decided how much of Sachin's stake will be sold to Walmart.

Sachin currently holds 5.5% stake in the company.

Reports suggest that negotiations are in the final stages between Flipkart and Walmart, and the deal is expected to be announced announced in a few days.

Walmart is expected to buy controlling stake in Flipkart. Amazon too, has expressed interest in Flipkart, and offered to buy 60 percent stake, CNBC-TV18 reported earlier this week.
