AHMEDABAD: In an intensive drive against touts by Central
Railway, it was noted that a few unauthorised softwares are operating in case of e-tickets which allow the unauthorised agents to bypass the normal queue and thus benefit them to seek confirmed reservation through these illegal means.
A malicious Software was being used for this purpose and its main operator could be located through source information. Vigorous surveillance was kept, further information in this regard was collected, verified, and the person behind this software was identified. A joint action was planned by Vigilance, RPF,
IRCTC and Mumbai Division's Commercial branch to nab the operator.
Accordingly a preventive check was conducted on 02.05.2018 by Vigilance team along with RPF Crime Intelligence Branch/PNVL & Anti Tout Squad CSMT at Oshiwara, Jogeshwari West, Mumbai. The kingpin of this racket was found with his laptop and from his software server 80 E-tickets amounting Rs.1,04,465/- were recovered. A case was registered against him at RPF/Byculla vide CR no.450/2018, U/S 143 of Railways Act.
Further on 03.05.2018, the software server and system was deeply screened and 6603 PNRs with
tickets amounting to Rs.1,47,14,850/- were detected. These PNRs have been seized in the PRS system.
Further investigation is being done to identify other persons behind this software and to know their modus operandi.
The names of passengers whose tickets have been seized will not appear in the chart after chart preparation.
Central Railway appeal to the passengers to buy tickets from IRCTC website, Reservation Offices at railway stations and authorised sources only to avoid unpleasant journey and forfeiting of tickets.
