On the 65th National Film Awards, late veteran actor Vinod Khanna and Sridevi were posthumously honoured with the top honours. Reportedly, Vinod Khanna’s younger son, Akshaye Khanna and wife Kavita received the top honour award of the Indian film industry, Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

On this, late actor’s elder son, Rahul Khanna yesterday posted an emotional post on Twitter with his childhood picture with Vinod Khanna. Rahul wrote, “On such an emotional day—as my dad is posthumously awarded India’s highest honour in cinema, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the National Film Awards & Akshaye accepts it on behalf of all of us—sharing one of my favourite photos of them both c. 1980!#tbt #throwbackthursday”.

Earlier, after an announcement of National Awards, Rahul had posted, “So proud to hear that my dad has been posthumously awarded India’s highest honour in cinema, the #DadasahebPhalkeAward at the #NationalFilmAwards! As we approach his first  death anniversary, it’s such a lovely way to celebrate his life and work because, at his core, he wasn’t just an actor but also a lifelong film fan!”

On Thursday, Akshaye Khanna also expressed his pride to PTI by saying, “We are really proud as a family. It is a bittersweet moment for us. I wish my father was here to receive this award. I am missing him. It is an emotional day for us.”
