The cost of the goggles ranging from Rs 250 to Rs 1.5 lakh are available in multiple colour options like black, green, blue, golden, silver and grey. Owner of Khanna Opticians, Malviya Nagar, Gaurav Khanna, told Free Press, “Cat Eyes sunglasses are in trend among females while in unisex style oval and aviators shapes goggles are also in demand. Mercury or mirror sunglass in multiple colour are more popular among youth.”
He said, “We have sunglasses of various branded companies including Carrera, Marc Jacobs, Tomy Hilfiger, Mont Blanc, Ray-Ban and Armani Exchange which price start from Rs 250 to Rs 1.5 lakh. These glasses have UV filtration and polarised lens. It has also 100 % glaze cutting.”
“We also have photo chromatic sunglasses of Ray-Ban which cost is Rs 7000. It serves two purposes for one, demand for sunglasses is round the year but yes, in summer its demand has increased 40%,” Khanna said.
Owner of Taran Opticians, New Market, Girish Taran said, “We have sunglasses of 42 branded companies in the price range of Rs 350 to Rs 35000. Mercury, full frame, plastic sheet and round shape sunglasses are in trend. The sunglasses of Carrera are also in demand. In summer the weather dry. So the frequency of optical sunglasses has increased by 29 %.”
Similarly, Owner of Praveen Khare, New Market, Praveen Khare said, “People mostly children and youth use sunglasses not only in summer but also in other seasons to keep dust and pollution away. We have polarised sunglasses of both Indian and foreign brands including Velocity, Sheraf, Sprint, Idee, Ray-Ban etc in various hues, shape and designs. It has 100 % glaze and protects from UV rays by 80 %. Its cost ranges from Rs 1199 to Rs2550.”
“We also have non-polarised goggles costing Rs 680 to Rs 1500. The demand of mercury glasses is more in youth; its price range is Rs 1999 to 9,000. It is available in green, blue, golden and sliver shades. We also have Ambermatic or hunting and Clip On sunglasses which work in both day and night. It is unisex,” said Khare who was very busy with customers.
