People in Punjab and Haryana got respite from hot weather conditions on Thursday with maximum temperatures dropping several notches below normal in most parts of both the states following rainfall a day before.

In Punjab, Amritsar’s maximum temperature was recorded at 36.6 degrees Celsius while Ludhiana and Patiala witnessed a high of 34.6 and 34.1 degrees Celsius, up to four notches below normal, the MeT Department said.

In Haryana, Ambala and Bhiwani recorded maximum temperatures of 33.3 and 36.2 degrees Celsius respectively, up  to four degrees below normal.
