A four-vehicle crash near Millersburg proves fatal for a 67-year-old male motorist.
MILLERSBURG A 67-year-old Holmes County man was killed in a four-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon near Millersburg.
Larry Farley of Killbuck, who had been driving a Ford Escort, was taken to Joel Pomerene Hospital where subsequently died. The crash occurred 12:20 p.m. at the intersection of state Route 39 and Holmes County Road 314 in Monroe Township.
Farley had been driving east on Route 39 when his vehicle was struck by an eastbound Chrysler Town and Country minivan driven by Thomas Snyder, 73, of Ashland, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol. The Town and County, which was about to turn south onto Holmes County Road 314, had been rammed from behind by a Peterbilt box truck driven by Bailey Boughman, 21, of Glenmont, who also had been traveling east on Route 39, according to state troopers.
Boughman apparently was not able to stop, which caused the Peterbilt truck to ram the Town and County, forcing it into the path of the Ford Escort driven by Farley.
The Ford Escort was forced into a Toyota Sequoia sport utility vehicle driven by Gloria Stoltzfus, 37, of Millersburg, who was northbound on County Road 314, according to state troopers. The other three drivers were not injured. But Snyder's passenger, a 69-year-old woman passenger with not life-threatening injuries was treated at Joel Pomerene.
Holmes County Prosecutor's Office will review the crash to determine if criminal charges should be filed.
