Ingles' barrage lifts Jazz over Rockets

A 27-point scoring barrage by Joe Ingles and key plays by fellow Australian Dante Exum have fired the Utah Jazz to a 116-108 victory over the Houston Rockets in game two of their NBA play-offs western conference semi-final series.

The win inside a hostile Houston arena on Wednesday evens the series at 1-1 and gives the Jazz an opportunity to take a commanding lead with the next two games in Salt Lake City.

Ingles bombed the Rockets out of the game, to set a post-season points record for an Australian.

He scored 11 of Utah's first 18 points to push them to a 19-point lead in the second quarter and he kept the three-point barrage going throughout the game connecting with seven of nine overall.

Exum had the best play-off game of his career with nine points, including a thunderous right-hand dunk in the final minute that sealed the game and had his teammates jumping off the bench.

In defence, Exum harassed James Harden and the Rockets' other All-Star guard Chris Paul.

Harden had 32 points and 11 assists but shot just 20 per cent from beyond the three-point arc.

Game three is on Saturday (AEST).
