Celebrating Big B’s platinum year in 75 frames
Exhibition uses rare Photographs, Paintings, Sketches, Posters, Block Print art, Vinyl LP Covers, Lobby Cards and Hand-bills to mark the superstar’s journey so far

Well known photojournalist Pradeep Chandra and eminent film historian S M M Ausaja have joined hands to curate a unique show titled Frames 75 which uses rare  Photographs, Paintings, Sketches, Posters, Block Print art, Vinyl LP Covers, Lobby Cards and Hand-bills in 75 frames to celebrate the superstar’s journey so far.

Chandra has been photographing Bachchan for over forty years while Ausaja has been a great fan whose collection is a veritable treasure trove for any Bachchan fan .

Chandra and Ausaja have been friends for years and are proud that they can both  trace their roots to “Ganga Kinare”. While Chandra was born in the holy city of Banaras, Ausaja is from Kanpur. Bachchan meanwhile hails from the city of Ganga-Jamuna and Saraswati: Allahabad .

The duo have been working on this concept for the last eight months and it was only once they had shown the images to Bachchan and he agreed to inaugrate the show did they start assembling the exhibition.

Previously Chandra had authored a coffee table book on Amitabh Bachchan and his son actor Abhishek Bachchan.

He had also organised an exhibition on Senior Bachchan’s 60th birthday which the actor had admired and personally inaugrated .

Ausaja is the author of a book on Bollywood posters and his new book on the Bachchans  will be released by the end of the year .

Sharvari Luth, whose world revolves around colour, has done a brilliant work of art with Bachchan in it and would like to gift this to the actor at the event. Partho Ghosh , Subhash Awachat , Mithu Biswas , Kishore Pritam ,Mukhtat Kazi ,Shrikant Diongre and Neeta Singh are some of the other painters who have contributed to the show . Ausaja has mostly showcaed showcards, block prints and posters ...

Pradeep Chandra has been a popular photo-journalist with The Times of India, Bombay Times, The Week and many other premier publications. He is also an author and occasional painter. His work has been showcased across the globe. His exhibition on the plight of Kashmiri Pandits was well appreciated.

To celebrate 50 years of Independence, he also curated an acclaimed exhibition in Mumbai. Chandra’s tribute exhibition to Amitabh Bachchan on his 61st birthday at J W Marriott was inaugurated and praised by Mr Bachchan. He has written a coffee-table book on M F Husain and another on Amitabh Bachchan, besides penning books on Abhishek Bachchan and Aamir Khan. His forthcoming book is Amitabh Bachchan which he has been coauthored with Vikas Chandra Sinha .

S M M Ausaja is an eminent film archivist, historian and an author with the largest private archive of Hindi cinema memorabilia.  He has authored Bollywood in Posters, a bestselling coffee table book released at IIFA in 2009 by Amitabh Bachchan. He is currently working at the Osians art house as Senior Vice President heading the cinema division. His previous exhibition was commissioned by Mrs Jaya Bachchan for Amitabh’s 70th birthday celebrations at the Nehru Centre. His recent book Bollywood The Films, The Songs, The Stars released last year has a Foreword by Mr Bachchan, who also released it in Mumbai. His third book The Bachchans will be released later this year.

The exhibitions starts at St.Regis hotel on May 9th and then shifts to Whistling Woods. The exhibition is open for fans of Amitabh Bachchan and the public.
