Dover's 8-6 win over Coshocton was more than just an East Central Ohio League baseball win.

It was a milestone victory.

Brandon Troyer hit two singles and Kopper Smith added a single and double as Dover recorded its 1,000th win in program history.

That win total has only been reached by 15 other high schools in Ohio history.

Alec Sayre was the winning pitcher as the Tornadoes (13-5, 11-1) clinched a share of the ECOL championship.

Devin Ryan led Coshocton with two singles.

Dover played its first-ever game on May 8, 1897, defeating rival New Philadelphia 37-13.

The Tornadoes fielded baseball teams up until 1939 and then dropped the sport from 1940 to 1954 before the program resumed in 1955.

STRASBURG 13, CONOTTON VALLEY 2

Andrew Cregan finished a home run short of the cycles and drove in two runs and scored three runs to lead the host Tigers to an Inter-Valley Conference North Division win in five innings.

TUSKY VALLEY 11, CENTRAL CATHOLIC 6

Brandon Goldsmith had two singles and a double with two RBIs and Tanner Phillips added three singles as Tusky Valley outscored host Central Catholic for an IVC North win.

The Trojans (10-9, 7-3) have won four straight.

Jacob Schott smacked a home run and drove in four, and Tapa Papuga added two singles for the Saints (6-11, 3-6).

GARAWAY 14, CLAYMONT 1

The Pirates scored six runs in both the second and fourth innings to earn an IVC South Division win on the road.

Trey Hershberger finished with two singles, a double, an RBI and scored three runs, while Peyton Miller also had two singles and a double, to go along with two RBIs and a run scored for the Pirates.

Claymont freshman T.J. Zurcher got his first career hit in his first start in the third inning. He also scored the only run for the Mustangs.

SOFTBALL

CLAYMONT 5, GARAWAY 4

Samone Shepherd hit a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning as host Claymont stunned Garaway for an Inter-Valley Conference South showdown victory. The Mustangs swept the two games against Garaway this season.

Garaway (11-6, 6-3) led 4-1 going to the bottom of the seventh where the Mustangs (14-6, 6-3) scored three times with two outs to force extra innings.

Claymont's Mallory Wolf struck out five in the complete game victory. Madison Garrett led the Mustangs with a single, double and three RBIs.

Garaway's Chelsi Rothacher scored on an inside-the-park home run, while Madison Steiner singled twice and scored a run.

STRASBURG 10, CONOTTON VALLEY 0

A walk prevented Zoey Thomas from pitching a perfect game as Strasburg blanked Conotton Valley in an IVC North game.

Thomas gave up the walk in the fifth inning, but still came away with a five-inning no-hitter with 10 strikeouts.

Emalee Nave led the Tigers' offense, finishing with two singles, two RBIs and two runs scored. Emma Clark added two singles and two runs for Strasburg (12-5, 6-2).

DOVER 10-13, COSHOCTON 1-1

Dover improved to 13-9 overall and 10-3 in the ECOL after a lopsided doubleheader sweep of Coshocton.

In the first game, Hayden Johnson went deep and drove in three runs.

In the second game, Alexis Renner also left the yard and drove home four.

NEW PHILA 9-6, CAMBRIDGE 8-3

New Philadelphia outlasted Cambridge in the first game of an ECOL doubleheader and recorded a doubleheader sweep of the Bobcats.

INDIAN VALLEY 16, HILAND 5

Indian Valley scored runs in each of the five innings played and amassed 18 hits to overpower Hiland.

Courtney Beckley (5-1) struck out six Hiland batters. Katie Deardorff hit a home run, double, single, and drove in three runs and scored twice for the Braves (14-2, 8-0). Raegen Wires added a double, two singles, an RBI, and scored twice. Maddie Dryden doubled and singled, driving in two runs and scoring two more.

Hiland's Hannah Gerber hit a home run and two singles to drive in a run and score three runs for the Hawks (2-12 1-7).

CENTRAL CATHOLIC 10, TUSKY VALLEY 2

Halli Blanchard tripled and drove in three runs and Maddie Lakota hit three singles and drove in two, as the Saints rolled to an IVC North Division win at home.

TUSKY VALLEY TRIANGULAR

Tusky Valley and Garaway each scored 73 points for a tie, with Malvern coming in with 28 in the boys meet, while Tusky Valley's girls defeated Malvern 85-49 and Garaway (41) in triangular action at Zoarville.

Justin Merrick had individual wins in the 200 and 400 for TV and Garaway had relay wins in the 800 and 1,600 relay.

Madi DeBos won the 400 and pole vault for the Trojans, while Kelsi Hulit claimed the shot and discus for the Hornets.

BOYS TENNIS

DOVER 3, NEW PHILA 2

The Tornadoes swept the singles matches, including two of the matches that went three sets, to earn a hard-fought East Central Ohio League win on the road.

Dover (10-6, 6-2) got wins from Garret Davis, Shawn Crouse and Ian Bleininger, who rallied after dropping the first set 6-4, winning the next two sets 6-3 and 7-5 over New Philadelphia's Drew Wherley.

The Quakers swept the doubles contests with Austin Reinerts-Mitch Pipes and Maggie Weaver-Josh Kaiser earning wins.

CLAYMONT 3, STEUBENVILLE 2

Claymont's Pau Caudet won first singles, while Joe Cottis captured the third singles win. Bryce Myers and Braden Watkins claimed the first doubles match to earn the team victory.

CLAYMONT 5, INDIAN CREEK 0

The Mustangs blanked the Indians to complete a rare doubleheader road sweep.
