CEDAR RAPIDS — Londyn Stoffel of the Cedar Rapids Association of Gymnastics won four titles at the 2018 Region 4 Xcel Regionals recently at the U.S. Cellular Center.
Stoffel, in Xcel Silver, won the bars, beam, floor exercise and all around.
CRAG’s Lauren Miller in Gold and Carly Mark in Diamond both won three events. Miller captured gold in the bars, beam and all around, Mark in the beam, floor and all around.
Reyata Ortiz (bars) in Silver and Bethany Young (vault) in Gold also won regional titles.
CRAG’s placewinners were Emmalyse Bordignon in Silver, Isabelle Sherman in Gold, and Kori Lyle, Alivia Foster and Maddie Tumilty in Platinum.
SWISHER’S JOHNSTON WINS HJGT EVENT
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Ian Johnston, 16, a junior at Cedar Rapids Prairie, won the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour Knoxville Open last weekend with a score of 151.
Johnston’s even-par 72 in the first round was the best round of the weekend, highlighted by five birdies. This is Johnston’s second HJGT win in his last four events.
Johnston also was named a finalist for the AJGA President’s Leadership Award for his work on raising awareness for substance abuse.
SOMERSAULTS’ CRONBAUGH WINS REGIONAL TITLE
CEDAR RAPIDS — Carly Cronbaugh of Somersaults Gymnastics won the vault at the Region 4 Xcel Regionals at the U.S. Cellular Center.
Cronbaugh tied for first in the Xcel Silver vault.
Somersaults placewinners were Bentey Rust and Ella Beach in Silver; Kiersten Swart, Maya Carrizales and Ava Christensen in Gold; and Grace Prull in Platinum.
23 FROM MOSERS WIN GOLD
WEBSTER CITY — Twenty-three members of the Moser School of Dance and Gymnastic team won titles at a USTA Power Tumbling meet here.
There were 22 teams and more than 350 athletes competing.
Moser’s winners were Isabel Lutgen, Carter Phillips, Hannabelle Erickson, Kaydence Ahart, Emma Bockenstedt, Kennedi Bevans, Kylie Belinsky, Maddesyn Demmer, Elizabeth Recker, Megan Pierschbacher, Madelyn Troester, Kendall Wagner, Ella Davidshofer, Elyse Konrardy, Memphis Peyton, Ella Digmann, Ella Krivanek, Delaney Brown, Aaliyah Rosenthal, Madilyn Payne, Ava Seevell, Brody Ries and Lainey Payne.
Sophia Geistkemper placed second, along with Carley Hillebrand, Tucker Erickson, Ella Vaughn, Lexus Fleming, Makenna Payne, Myra Peyton, Brynn Bucknell, Madelyn Pope, Kendalyn Belinsky and Ava Nolan. Third-place finishers were Annis Gulick, Rachel Clayberg, Reagan Brown, Madelyn Schmitz, Mikya Britton, Taylor Mullis, Madeline Martin, Grace Funke, Allie Esmann, Ella Oberbreckling, Emma Fisher, Phillip Johnson, Kallyn Henney, Marlie Schissel, Maya Cuellar, Leigha Hinrichs and Hadlee Erickson.
