Willoughby man sentenced for armed Leroy Twp. gas station robbery

A Willoughby man who robbed a Leroy Township gas station at gunpoint on Christmas Eve was sentenced May 3 to 10 years in prison.

Terrell Tyshon Spencer, 19, entered the BP Gas Station at 5941 Vrooman Road shortly after 9:30 p.m., Dec. 24.

He showed a black semi-automatic handgun to the lone store clerk and demanded money, Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies said.

The Sheriff’s Office posted a photo of the robbery on its Facebook page following the incident. The department said tips from the post’s viewers helped lead them to Spencer.

After confessing to the incident, Spencer also admitted to a robbery at Ken’s Drive Thru Beverage in Painesville.

Spencer previously pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery before Lake County Common Pleas Judge Eugene A. Lucci.
