Maulvi charged with sexual assault on minors

In a shocking incident, six minor students of a madarsa in Zebanagar near Asifnagar here were allegedly sexually assaulted for over two months by their maulvi.

According to Asifnagar police, the six boys were aged between 6 and 8 years and the incident came to light on Tuesday after the parents of one of the victims informed the police.

Cops identified the accused as Mohammed Rehan (22), who is from Bihar and resides in Zebanagar. P. Venkateshwarlu, inspector, Asifnagar said that the accused, an Urdu graduate, was arrested on Wednesday and taken to government hospital for medical examination. During interrogation, Rehan confessed to the crime and revealed the names of other boys whom he sexually assaulted repeatedly.

“The children were also sent to the hospital for medical examination,” police said, adding that after the classes at the madarsa, Rehan used to take the victims to the washroom and grope them.
