Laura Beth Overhulser, 65, of Cedar Rapids, slipped away to join her angels Wednesday, May 2, 2018. She was attended by her daughter and passed peacefully as the rain came. Memorial services: 1 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Jerry Bertelson. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her children, Sarah Melichar of Marion, Susannah Mason of Marion and Jerry Melichar of Cedar Rapids; her brother, Timothy (Shari) Overhulser of Hawarden, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Mary Overhulser of Cedar Rapids; and her grandchildren, Dylan, Miracle, Raina (Tom), Joshua, Anna, Cadence and Drake.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Wayne and Terry Overhulser.
Laura was born May 21, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Wayne and Maryann (McQuillin) Overhulser. Laura graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. She went on to study CAD at Kirkwood Community College. She was an avid sports fan, enthusiastically cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. She adored children, and always was ready with a lollipop for any child.
Laura touched the hearts and minds of many with her quick wit and fine intellect. She also was an extraordinary cook and homemaker. Laura lived freely and took great pride in her children, grandchildren, friends and loved ones.
