Thousands of devotees thronged Goripalayam in the evening for a darshan before His departure

After displaying 10 avatars of Lord Vishnu, Kallazhagar left Ramarayar Mandapam at 6 a.m. on Wednesday and left for Alwarpuram via Pulianthope.

The Lord provided darshan in ‘Mohini avatar’ and went to banks of the Vaigai and later travelled on ‘Anantharayar Poo Pallakku’ (floral palanquin).

The deity reached a mandapam in Alwarpuram for rest in the afternoon.

Thousands of devotees thronged Goripalayam in the evening for a darshan of Lord Kallazhagar before departure to His abode.

Hawkers used the crowd to sell all kinds of plastic toys and bangles.

Those who had set up temporary shops on Alagarkoil Road began packing their things as the Chithirai Brahmotsavam was winding up.

The deity visited Pavalakanvai Perumal Temple in Pechiamman Padithurai as special poojas for Lord Kallazhagar’s ‘Jadari’ (crown) were performed.

M. Tirunavakarasu, a staff of the Lord Kallazhagar temple in Alagarkoil, said “it was believed that residents of Madurai were disappointed about Lord Kallazhagar’s return to His abode.

‘Paavakkai soru’ (bitter gourd rice) was served to devotees at a mandapam at Alwarpuram because they were sad about his departure.”

The deity moved to Sethupathi mandapam for ‘Poo pallakku’ at Tallakulam Prasanna Venkatachalapathi Temple at 7 p.m.

Lord Kallazhagar is expected to head towards Mariamman Temple near Outpost and then proceed to Appan Thirupathi on Thursday night.
